Music director
Nathan has served as Music Director for the Little Theatre of Walla Walla's production of "Shakespeare Comes to Calamity Creek" by Tim Kelly and Bill Francoeur and as Co-Music Director and conductor for Whitman College's Opera Workshop production of "Suor Angelica" by Giacomo Puccini. Other conducting experience includes serving as Choir Director at United Methodist Church in Walla Walla as well as Substitute Choir Director for Whitman College's Chorale and Chamber Singers.
Nathan was able to continue learning about music directing while acting as Teacher's Assistant for Washington State University School of Music's Opera Workshop Program. During that time, he aided in the productions of "Die Fledermaus" (in English) by Johann Strauss II and "The Addams Family: the Musical" by Andrew Lippa, Rick Elice, and Marshall Brickman. In the fall of 2017, Nathan began his relationship with Youth Theatre Northwest (based on Mercer Island) music directing "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." where he successfully prepared a double cast. He continued that relationship in the summer of 2018 music directing "The Lion King, Jr." where he successfully guided 4th through 9th graders in several difficult African languages. Thus has borne what hopes to be an ongoing collaboration with YTN and a new theatre home. With extensive experience with piano and knowledge in vocal pedagogy, Nathan is eager to collaborate with drama programs of all levels to provide an exciting yet knowledge-based experience for singers of varying levels and ages.
